ST AUSTELL Brewery have extended their sponsorship of the Cornwall cup competitions by a further three years.

It is news that has thrilled Cornwall Rugby Football Union officials in these very hard economic times.

Cornwall chairman Denis Preece said: "I am delighted that St Austell Brewery, under the banner of their Tribute Ale, have agreed to sponsor the cups for the next three seasons.

"In this time of financial restraint, it is great news for the Cornwall RFU.

"It goes without saying, the CRFU are very grateful for the support St Austell Brewery provide to the clubs in Cornwall."

The Tribute Cornwall Senior Cup draw has thrown up some interesting first-round ties, the pick of which sees Hayle take on their near neighbours St Ives.

Those two clubs were due to clash in the first round last season as well, but St Ives had to cry off the fixture as they were unable to raise a team over the August Bank Holiday weekend, when the match was due to be played.

Last season's beaten finalists, St Austell, face a trip to Falmouth, while 2012 Tribute Cornwall Clubs Cup winners Saltash have been handed a difficult tie at Truro.

Tribute Cornwall Cup holders Wadebridge Camels, 2011 winners Camborne and Newquay Hornets have all been handed first-round byes.

In the Clubs Cup, Perranporth and Camborne School of Mines are the lucky sides to be given a path straight through to the quarter-finals.

Tribute Cornwall Cup, first round draw: Truro v Saltash, Pirates Amateurs v Bude, Hayle v St Ives, Penryn v Liskeard-Looe, Falmouth v St Austell. Byes: Camborne, Wadebridge Camels, Newquay Hornets.
