Dylan hits his mark for TV role

A LUDGVAN boy is to have a starring role in a children's TV show.

Dylan Bradley-Peer was chosen by film crews to take part in CBeebies programme Mr Bloom's Nursery after they visited Nancealverne School where he is a student.

The seven-year-old, who has Down's syndrome, wasn't even in class when the production staff arrived looking for children, or Tiddlers, to star in the show.

"Dylan was poorly and wasn't at school that day but to make sure he didn't miss out his teacher still included him in the selection," said proud mum Lesley.

As part of his role in the show, Dylan has filmed on location with Mr Bloom and his puppet vegetables at Heartlands, Pool.

"Dylan really enjoyed being at Heartlands, meeting Mr Bloom and the Veggies," said Ms Bradley-Peer. "He was really interested in the person whose arm was operating Raymond the butternut squash and was telling her jokes and she was telling jokes back."

The youngster was this week also set to travel to Manchester with his mum, dad George and sister Pema, to join the children's entertainer in the studio for two mornings of filming.

Excited about the train journey and the chance to meet Mr Bloom again, Ms Bradley-Peer said her son was also a bit of an entertainer.

"Dylan loves to do little shows for his friends, play his guitar and sing," she said.

"He is a bit of a star.

"I do not want to stereotype children with Down's syndrome – he can be very wilful but has such a shining, smiley face."

Dylan's screen debut is due to be aired next year.
