Early start for St Ives' lifeboat
THE CREWS of the St Ives lifeboats had an early morning wake-up call when they were paged at 5.44am last week.
The call-out on Wednesday, to a local fishing boat off Porthminster Point, was the station's first shout of 2014.
The 18-foot Plymouth pilot Girl Cherry, with two on board, had become fouled-up in her own nets, and could not get her auxiliary engine to start, so called Falmouth coastguard for assistance.
St Ives' inshore lifeboat was quickly launched by 5.50am.
