Ecodrive, one of the UK's leading independent advisors on electric vehicle infrastructure, has suggested that this is a positive step in encouraging more people to consider electric vehicles as an effective mode of transport.

A summit meeting to discuss

the impact of the funding announcement will take place on Friday 22 February

2013 at the Health and Wellbeing Innovation Centre in Truro from 9am until

10.30am.

Ecodrive is bringing together the key stakeholders who will

be affected by this announcement. Cornwall Council, the NHS, Cornwall & Devon

Police and First Great Western are some of the businesses that will be invited

to attend the event.

Tim Bryant, Commercial Director of Ecodrive said, "The announcement

is great news as it will provide a considerable contribution towards the

installation of EV charge points at home, in train stations and in key public

sector organisations.  The announcement follows

a record year of electric car sales in the UK last year and could mark a key

turning point in making electric vehicles more accessible to a much broader

market.

"The Breakfast Summit event we are holding on Friday morning

is to discuss the many opportunities for Cornwall that this funding represents

with some of the key stakeholders involved.

Cornwall has quickly become one of the UK's fastest growing regions for

retail electric vehicle sales proving that there is a real appetite in the

county for the adoption of innovative technology whenever the sums add up."
