Eden Project pair hounoured by Queen for Big Lunch roles
The Queen has honoured two organisers of the Eden Project's Big Lunch celebrating her diamond jubilee.
Eden's project campaigns director Peter Stewart and strategic marketing director Rita Broe have been included in the Diamond Jubilee Honours List announced today (Thursday), becoming Members of the Royal Victorian Order (MVO).
The Big Jubilee Lunch in June attracted a record-breaking 8.5 million participants around the UK and people in 70 countries. Eden's joint chief executive Sir Tim Smit said: "This honour is a great accolade not just to Peter and Rita's tireless leadership of a great campaign to inspire so many millions of people to join in June.
"They would be the first to say it is also a fantastic tribute to the wider Big Lunch and Eden teams and all the local organisers who have pulled together brilliantly to help bring community and friendship to the UK and abroad through the Big Lunch over the last four years."

He joined Eden nine years ago and was this year appointed to the board of Eden Project Ltd.
Ms Broe, originally from County Kildare, Ireland, and a former European head of marketing for MasterCard, joined the attaraction near St Austell in her current position in October 2011. Her award is an honorary MVO.
The Big Jubilee Lunch was led by the Eden Project with support from the Big Lottery Fund and partners MasterCard, EDF Energy, Kingsmill and Asda. Next year's Big Lunch takes place on June 2.
