Eden Project's Tim Smit knighted at palace
This is the proud moment that Sir Tim Smit, co-founder of the Eden Project, is knighted by the Prince of Wales during an investiture ceremony at Buckingham Palace.
The Dutch-born co-founder and chief executive of Cornwall's iconic tourist attraction was awarded the honour in recognition of his services to public engagement with science earlier this year. He knelt before Prince Charles in the time-honoured tradition at the ceremony yesterday.
Sir Tim Smit was appointed an honorary Knight by the Queen in the New Year honours.
The award carries the full title honorary Knight Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (KBE).
