Eden visitors show their support for campaign to back British farming
"BRITISH food is miles better"; "It's the best food in the world"; and "Supermarkets should stock more British produce and pay a fair price to the producers," were just a few of the many glowing testimonials given by the public when the NFU's Back British Farming campaign visited the South West.
The Eden Project's iconic biomes provided the perfect backdrop for a visit from the campaign's poster van accompanied by Cornwall's NFU leadership team, chairman Brian Trewin and his deputies Chris Cardell and Roger Jenkin.
In light of Eden's Harvest Celebrations campaign, it was an ideal time to focus on the campaign's core objective, which is to halt the decline in UK food self-sufficiency.
"During our visit we spoke to scores of people, with nearly 200 signing our Back British Farming Charter," said North Cornwall beef farmer Mr Trewin.

"It was humbling and gratifying to hear first-hand how much they valued farmers and appreciated what we are doing.
"As you might expect from visitors to Eden, they were also very clued up and concerned about food miles and global warming."
The campaign has been touring the country, gathering signatures.
