FIRST division Elburton Villa pulled off a Rowett Insurance League Cup shock when they beat Bude, who are second in the premier division, to earn themselves a quarter-final tie against Tavistock.

That match will take place at Elburton on Saturday March 20 with the winners of the all-Devon tie going through to meet Torpoint in the two-legged semi-final.

The early stages were evenly contested and Elburton were indebted to some good work at central defence by Andy Cramoysan and 16-year-old Ryan Swain.

Steve Blackburn gave Elburton an interval lead with a shot from the edge of the penalty area after receiving a through ball from Joe Organ.

Dean Smith made an important save for Villa early in the second half and Blackburn then added a second with a close range effort on the counter attack.

Blackburn rounded off an impressive afternoon in central midfield when he laid on the opening for Robbie Almond to complete the scoring.
