Elderly motorist from Saltash died at the wheel of his car
Fire crews battled to save an elderly motorist who died on an isolated road in Saltash after suffering a medical episode at the wheel of his car.
The 73-year-old man from Saltash drove his silver Mercedes A class car into a wall at Tor Hill at around 11am yesterday (Saturday) after falling ill at the wheel.
Police closed the road for three and a half hours while fire crews used CPR on the elderly motorist.
Police said that the man had suffered a medical episode and that despite the firefighters' best efforts he died at the scene.
