Event allows public to see artists at work
AS WE all know, Helston and The Lizard is a haven for artists of all disciplines.
And once again this year many of them are welcoming the public to their studios to see them at work.

Artist Carol Scott poses with some of her ceramic work which she produces in her studio behind the Creftow Gallery in Helston's Meneage Street.
This is actually the fifth year of the Open Studios programme, which runs from Saturday to May 31.
Participating artists can be found wherever the project's distinctive orange 'O' logo is displayed.
Among those taking part this year is sculptor Carolle Blackwell, who works from studios behind the Creftow Gallery in Helston's Meneage Street.
Run as an artists' co-operative, this features about 15 local artists.
Carolle has been working in clay for the last eight years; she works as an arts therapist in Penzance and also runs 'Play with Clay' workshops at Creftow on Tuesday and Saturdays between 2pm and 4pm.
Another participant will be Carol Scott, who works from Viscar Pottery at Viscar Farm, Edgcumbe, between Helston and Penryn.
She will be opening her studio for the first time to the public as part of the studios week.
Her studio is set within her small-holding on which she and her husband planted 5,000 trees eight years ago and during the week Carol will be working in her studio and, where possible, willing to demonstrate how she works - throwing on the potter's wheel, turning and decorating.
Tea, coffee, juice and biscuits will be available.
Carol moved to Cornwall 23 years ago, after working for 20 years in theatre and television management.
Artwork of different forms can be found at Paul Hoskin's workshop at Coverack Bridges which he is sharing with painter, printmaker and photographer, Suzy Sharpe.
During Open Studios week, in addition to both showing recent work, Suzy will be running printmaking workshops on Wednesday in monoprinting and Friday in lino printing and Paul will be demonstrating some of his metalworking techniques throughout the week.
Over the past 12 months Suzy has continued her exploration of Cornwall's 'rural portrait', visiting local farms, agricultural shows and sales and come into contact with many interesting animal characters, producing a dramatic body of work.
Paul transforms steel and recycled copper using a variety of processes.
Their studio is at Abstract Arcs, 3 Trannack Mill, Coverack Bridges, Helston.
And, once again, the Ashton Arts Group will be throwing open their studios in and around the village.
These include Digby Atkinson, Jane Bath, Jackie Harrison, Nic Harrison, Lynn Harvey, Linda Matthews and Jayne McHugh.
Their disciplines range from pottery to rugs and tapestries, and from painting to printwork, sculpture and 3D imagery.
