Event turns spotlight on new police role
The role of the new Devon and Cornwall Police and Crime Commissioner will be the focus of an open event being held on the Isles of Scilly on Friday, October 12.
Staged at the Wesleyan Chapel on St Mary's, the session will run from 10am to 3pm. During the day, representatives from Cornwall Council's electoral service, Scilly Council, Devon and Cornwall Police and the Police Authority will be on hand to answer questions. The poll to elect the commissioner will be held on November 15, with the count taking place the following day.

“This whole excercise is a waste of time and public money and will not improve policing one iota. I consider myself an intelligent man but do not consider myself to know enough about policing to make an informed decision on who to vote for. For that reason alone I will not be voting and I am sure there are many more like me on this.”
