Ex-partner David Allen of Camborne put knee through door while delivering presents
WHAT should have been "a nice, pleasant" occasion when a 50-year-old took Christmas presents to his former partner's house for the children turned sour after he put his knee through the front door, Truro magistrates heard.
David Allen, 50, of Wellington Road, Camborne, pleaded guilty to causing criminal damage on December 7 to Heather Preece's property.
Gail Hawkley, for the prosecution, said Ms Preece had called the police after her door was broken. After ten years of separation she was still scared of Allen and after hearing his telephone message saying he would be calling on her if she did not respond, she locked the house and feared for her safety and that of the children.
The court was told that Allen had previous convictions and admitted breaching a conditional discharge.

Paul Gallagher, for the defence, said: "He [Allen] pushed at the door and unfortunately his knee went through the bottom panel. It should have been a nice, pleasant situation, of taking up presents but it went sour and he is in court, and is very sorry for what happened."
Allen was told to pay £150 compensation and £85 costs.
