Ocean Housing Group was awarded the Commitment to Apprenticeships Award as a result of the extensive support and mentoring the organisation provides to their apprentices.
Each year Ocean runs an extensive apprenticeship programme in partnership with Cornwall College Business which enables them to train and internally develop future managers.
This year saw South West Water win the Outstanding Commitment to Training (large company) as well as the overall Winner of Winners Award.
South West Water has introduced an extensive new training programme that provides employees with a comprehensive understanding of its business and strategy, as well as learning and development initiatives to enhance personal and career development. They also run a large apprenticeship programme in partnership with Cornwall College which is developing a workforce of the future.
The Outstanding Commitment to Training Award was sponsored and judged by Arthur Hooper, from Cormac Solutions Ltd, who said: "South West Water has developed an approach to training which fulfils both its strategic and learning objectives and has been embraced by staff and managers alike. South West Water has clearly demonstrated its commitment to its people and this has enabled their staff to develop initiatives to improve the business going forward, whilst at the same time enriching their knowledge, skills and ambition."
Raoul Humphreys, deputy CEO of Cornwall College, opened the awards and said: "The entries to this year's awards have all been exceptional and I know the judges had a very difficult time in selecting just one winner in each category.
"It is so inspiring to see the tremendous successes that businesses in the South West have seen as a result of training and developing their staff and is always a pleasure to take the opportunity to celebrate with those businesses at the awards. Congratulations to the shortlisted and winning businesses."
