Exeter University's baroness awarded for 'outstanding' work on children's TV
University of Exeter Chancellor and former BBC television presenter Floella Benjamin has been hailed as a champion of children's arts.
Baroness Benjamin, who has also been an actress, author and politician, was recognised for her "outstanding contribution to children's television" by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA).

The annual ceremony, organised by charity Action for Children's Arts (ACA), celebrates artists who have made a lasting impact on children's art and welfare in the UK. She was presented with the J.M. Barrie Award at the BAFTA Members' Club in London, for a body of work that was said to "stand the test of time".
Former recipients at the Children's Arts Awards include Liverpool poet Roger McGough and cartoonist Quentin Blake. ACA patron Peter Duncan, best known for presenting Blue Peter, said: "Floella is recognised by countless adults as one of the most well-known TV presenters of their childhood.
