Expanding tool company opens branch

NEWQUAY'S economy is set for a boost after a leading tool firm opened a new store at the resort.

South West Hire and Sales Ltd have expanded business to Treloy Business Park, Trebarber, on the outskirts of Newquay.

The company has established stores in Plymouth and Torquay and as a result of this latest expansion business bosses have recruited four new members of staff.

Andy Webber, owner of South West Hire and Sales, said it was an "exciting" move for his company.

"My business partner Mark and I have been thrilled with the speed at which the company has grown over the years," he said.

"The opening of our new branch in Newquay is a really exciting move for us."

He said the firm was looking to open another store in Cornwall in the next year.

The business sells a range of building and construction tools for hire and purchase.

Newquay mayor, Kevin Towill, said the move demonstrated confidence by the construction industry and financial sector in Newquay's long-term future and growth and guaranteed year round jobs. "This announcement is a great start to the new year," he said. "Newquay is such a great place to invest, expand and start up business."
