Redruth U15s 19 Falmouth U15s 25 pts
This was a big scalp for the visitors at Redruth's Recreation Ground on Sunday as the Falmouth boys put in their best team performance of the season.
Falmouth also played most of the rugby and only allowed their opponents to stay in touch with silly errors and wayward kicks one of which resulted in a length of the field interception try for Reds' centre Bryant.
Falmouth's forwards linked with the backs to look threatening in attack on almost every occasion they had possession.
The scene was set when Mike Jones went over for the first try in the corner after just five minutes after a 50 metre break by Angus Mackinnon.
Redruth came back with a try under the posts, which they converted to take the lead, but not for long as a Falmouth move through seven pairs of hands eventually sent Craig Hunter over to restore the Falmouth advantage. The interception try, which Reds again converted looked like letting Redruth have a first half lead against the run of play but, just in time, Cornwall prop Joe Martin forced his way over from a tap penalty to give Falmouth a 15-14 lead at the break. The second half saw Falmouth rouse themselves to score two tries, one by Mackinnon and a second by Jones and only lost concentration for a few moments let Redruth in for their third.
Squad: Joe Martin, Jack Innard, Charlie Sanders, Josh Phillips, Fergus Crockford, Craig Hunter, Jon Mailes (Capt), Joe Parry, Charlie Conchie, Jack Reed, Angus Mackinnon, Kieran Rodda, Grant Burrows, Mike Jones, Kyren Coulls, Hamish Wilson, Phil Jane, Ed Aldis, Harry Spargo, Alex Bullock.

LIONS TOO STRONG:
Falmouth Res 5, Liskeard-Looe Res 45
This was always going to be a tough fixture, as like good French wine this team does not travel too well, writes Colin Watts.
With just 15 players available for this game, Falmouth were always going to struggle to contain Liskeard.
Inside 10 minutes the home side recorded their first points with their backs running from deep inside their 22m to score under the sticks. Ross Drennen, playing out of position at open side flanker, was next to touch down but the referee disallowed the try for a not straight at the line out.
Liskeard enjoyed possession and territory for the next 20 minutes with Falmouth tackling enthusiastically, but it was not long before their defence was breached with another converted try. At 14-0 Liskeard began to play with confidence and controlled the tempo of the game. Against the run of play, however, Mark Rose drove over from five metres out to score a well earned try.
For the first 20 minutes of the second half, Falmouth defended with spirit and kept the relentless waves of attacks at bay, but it was only a matter of time before one or two missed tackles allowed the home team to break the defensive line and open up the flood gates. Five tries were scored in quick succession for Liskeard to win convincingly 45-5. Matt Warpole, Jacob Stephens and Paul Dennys all had good defensive games but man of the match went to Harry Martin.

JOHN LIFTS TITLE:
After a long, hard winter the final round of the Winter League was played at Falmouth Golf Club on Saturday.
Normally this competition is played over 10 events, with the top six cards from each player counting towards an overall final total. However, this year, due to the coldest winter for 30 years, only nine rounds were managed. Going into the final round the league's final places were going to be dominated by two players, with Steve Thomas holding a small advantage over club stalwart, John Gresson.
Steve must have held high hopes going into the final round and dressed to impress in a dazzling new pair of orange and brown strides.
However, it was John Gresson, playing off a four handicap, who used all of his experience to produce a fantastic 46 points and lift the trophy.
This great score even included a birdie three on the difficult 7th hole, which is a rare bird indeed! Unfortunately for Steve, this meant that John won the League by three clear points.
Mrs Sandra Buller presented the Ted Hitchins Trophy, in memory of her late father. Ted, who was a well-known character, not only at the golf club, but also around town, would have been delighted that John had won his trophy.
FALMOUTH LADIES NEWS:
A large field of ladies gathered for the Californian Scramble last week, in drawn teams of three.
Winners on the day with a score of 78.1 were Pauline Clifton, Letitia Rivett-Old and Doreen Kirkup. In second place were Jane Wooldridge, Wendy Plummer and Barbara Farmer with 80.7.
Conditions for the second round of the Mail on Sunday Classic competition played at Mullion were perfect.
First off the tee for Falmouth was Lena Holland playing Sally Markham, who drove particularly well and won 4 & 3.
Jane Pearson consolidated Mullion's position beating Falmouth's Sue Short on the 18th green. Caroline Bawden played well and redressed the balance for Falmouth with some fine putts and beat Pandora Geddes 3 & 1. In the fifth match Pauline Clifton turned in another solid performance winning 4 & 3 against Mullion's Jenny King and levelling the match.
All eyes turned to Falmouth's Lauren Hulston on the 18th green who had fought back valiantly against Lydia Gilbert. Lauren had a putt to halve the match, which she narrowly missed and the victory was Mullion's by 3 matches to 2.
BUDOCK WINTER LEAGUE:
Keith Rashleigh won the final round of the Roger Mildren sponsored league at Budock Vean on Sunday.
His 41 points included 23 on the front nine and a steady 18 points on the back nine which was just enough to pip David Stevens who is enjoying a good run of form into second place by one point.
Third was Kevin Bate with 39 points which edged Alec Evans, Bob Hartnell and Charlie Averiss out of the prizes on the countbacks.
As predicted Steven Penrose deservedly won the overall Winter League with a superb best four rounds aggregate of 166 points (39; 42; 42 and 43).
Runner-up in the table was David Stevens with 162 points (39, 39, 40 and 44) and third was Keith Rashleigh with a total of 160 points returning rounds of 38, 39, 41 and 42.
On Saturday, Vean came unstuck at Truro in the second round of The Mail on Sunday Team Classic, going out 5-0 against a very impressive young Truro team led by +2 handicapper Billy Downing who won the top match against Vean's talented teenager Daniel Phillips playing off a five handicap, at the penultimate hole.
This set the trend for an emphatic win by the home club..
Budock Vean Ladies' Mae Brown and Barbara Craig certainly did the club proud as they won through to the second round of the Daily Mail Foursomes by overcoming visiting Cape Cornwall by 2 and 1 on Saturday, thus joining their male counterparts Ian Scorse and Richard Burton in the second round.
Ladies Threesomes Stableford result: 1st. Philippa Oliver, Nina Hann and Sue Parsons; 2, Mae Brown, Marlene Williams and Samantha Tolchard.
This Sunday is the ETS Cups (teams of three).
