Former student at Falmouth University, Ben Howard scooped two Brit Awards last night.

Although from Devon, Howard's rise to fame began by playing local gigs during his journalism studies in Falmouth and he built up a following through the surfing fraternity and social media.

But he gave up his course to pursue his music career and the acoustic singer-songwriter won the breakthrough act and best male prize, defeating contenders including chart-topping Rita Ora and Olly Murs.

Last year he was nominated for a Murcury Prize and won breakthrough act. His debut album Every Kingdom went platinum.
