The sales material on the Stratton Creber web site describesd the lot as: “A rare opportunity to acquire a substantial and extremely versatile two storey, imposing town centre building, offering tremendous potential (subject to any requisite consents) for a variety of uses.”
It has a main function suite plus four other rooms, a kitchen, two cloakrooms, outside enclosed rear courtyard and storage facility.
Falmouth WI president Grace Bradford would not comment on why the branch is selling the property.
But Kathy Reed, the county chairman for the Cornwall Federation of Women’s Institutes, WI, said: “The Falmouth WI wish to now dispose of the building and were recommended that they probably would be better off if they auctioned it.
“A lot of WIs have these old buildings. A lot of them have already sold as they can be very costly to maintain.
“The money from the auction will go to the charity.”
There are 150 WIs in Cornwall, with 3,800 members.
