THE owners of Falmouth docks have officially dropped plans for any leisure facilities.

As reported in the West Briton last May, new owners Atlantic & Peninsula Marine Services Ltd said their ambition was for an industrial working port and had dropped the gateway scheme and put the marina on the back-burner.

It has now been confirmed the marina plans have been shelved too.

Peter Child, managing director of A&P Falmouth, said: "The docks have and will continue to play a key role, both economically and socially, as the largest private employer in West Cornwall, as well as bringing significant wider benefits for the county.

"Our strategy is to continue to develop the site as an industrial facility which is home to high quality marine businesses providing skilled jobs and generating economic activity for Cornwall.

"Earlier proposals for a marina development brought forward by previous owners of A&P Group no longer form any part of this strategy."
