Falmouth lantern parade: video
ARTS degree students from Falmouth University exhibited two giant lanterns in the Falmouth Christmas parade last Thursday, one of a whale and one of a giant mythical creature.
The students from the contemporary crafts degree joined school children from local schools for the lantern parade which started the first of the night of late-night Christmas shopping events.
The whale was 20-foot long and five feet tall and took 10 people to make.
The mythical creature consisted of one giant lantern carried on a back pack with the individual animal skulls worn on each student's head, made by a group of nine students.

The huge creatures mingled with the other creations from local school children.
The evening also included Santa’s Grotto, Christmas market and live music.
The parade video, sent in by a reader, shows Penryn samba band Daka Doum providing the soundtrack for the lantern parade, which also featured the first appearance for Santa in the town.
