Falmouth team praised at Urbanism awards
Falmouth has been praised in a national competition for the "drive and professionalism" with which its town team is driving the local economy forward.
Enterprise and an innovative approach to town management put Falmouth in the spotlight at the 2013 Urbanism Awards in London, where it was one of 12 UK and Irish and three European finalists.
Shortlisted for The Great Town award in which Galway emerged as the winner, Falmouth's Town Team – a partnership between its Business Improvement District and town council – was credited as an "excellent example" of good urban practice.
The finalists were selected on evidence of effective partnerships, innovative marketing and their approach to "town centre challenges".

Kevin Murray, chairman of The Academy of Urbanism, said: "Falmouth narrowly missed out on the main prize. The academy was particularly impressed with the way in which partnerships have formed within Falmouth to deliver results."
