More wildcat strikes have left Brittany Ferries passengers either stuck or hunting alternative routes between the UK and France, with the firm urging customers to go online for updates.

A spokesman for Brittany Ferries said the company "very much regrets the inconvenience that its customers are experiencing as a result of industrial action by our crew".

Yesterday the strike caused the cancellation of ferries from Portsmouth to Caen, Cherbourg and St Malo and the 11pm crossing from Plymouth to Roscoff. The spokesman said: "We are systematically contacting our passengers by telephone, email, SMS and Twitter but this is placing enormous pressure on our contact centre so that our speed of response may not be up to its usual standards."
