A FOOTBALL festival aimed at attracting more girls to the game was held on Perranporth beach.

Youngsters from across the county, including Illogan and Truro, took part in Sunday's free FA Girls' Football Festival, supported by Continental Tyres, Sport England and Uefa.

The activities on offer included interactive games and competitions, the ContiWarmUp programme, skills and drills with FA-approved coaches, hair-braiders, face-painters, prizes and goodies, as well as digital stations to entertain the girls during breaks from playing.

Kelly Simmons, the FA's head of National Game, said: "The festival is a fantastic platform for girls of all abilities to develop their skills and understanding of the game."
