THE findings of a major study into proposals to dredge Falmouth's harbour to deliver a cruise liner terminal will be on public display next week.

Results of the environmental impact assessment will be unveiled at a public exhibition next Thursday.

It was commissioned to look at the proposals not only for dredging a deep water channel, but for wharf improvements and the building of the cruise terminal. Such a move would attract some of the largest lines in the world to the town, boosting the local economy.

Environmental consultants Royal Haskoning undertook the assessment. The project is being driven by Falmouth Harbour Commissioners and A&P Falmouth Limited.

Captain Mark Sansom, harbour commissioners' chief executive, said: "This is a potentially significant project for Falmouth and one in which we have sought to be as open as possible at all times with the public and key stakeholders."

The exhibition will be at the National Maritime Museum in Falmouth from 10am until 6pm.

Representatives from both the commissioners and Royal Haskoning will be available to answer questions.
