THE PARENTS of a Newquay musician will be glued to their TV this weekend as they watch their daughter shoot for national stardom in the X Factor.

Millions will be watching hundreds of wannabe stars compete in the Boot Camp section of the talent show – and Lotte Rundle will be feeling the pressure more than most.

Known as Charlie on stage, the 19-year-old makes up one half of MK1 with Simeon Dixon, and is one of the hopefuls competing for a place at the judges' houses.

Footage shot this week will be aired for the first time on Saturday and Sunday, but no one – including her parents – knows on which day Lotte will perform, or the result.

Mum Debbie and dad Daniel, of Hilgrove Road, said it was surreal watching their daughter on TV.

"It's been very stressful," joked Debbie, 47. "We've always hoped but you have to be realistic. All her family and friends will be watching and hoping.

"Nicole (Sherzinger) called her a fireball and Tulisa was very complimentary. She's been able to mix with real stars."

Lotte had been working with two pals as MK1 for the past 18 months in London.

They first appeared on X Factor three weeks ago – as a trio – and performed a 'mash-up' rap of Read All About It by Professor Green and Emeli Sandé and Written In The Stars by Tinie Tempah.

Judges Gary Barlow, Tulisa, Nicole Sherzinger and Louis Walsh felt band member Will Baker didn't fit in and MKI was forced to make a decision – whether to go through as a duo or to leave.

It was decided Lotte and Simeon would continue as a duo and the act powered into Boot Camp with 'yes' votes from all four judges.

Watch out for our star on The X Factor when she appears either tomorrow at 8.10pm, or Sunday at 8pm.
