Firefighters from Falmouth, Truro and Redruth were sent to Falmouth Docks after reports of a fire aboard RFA Argus.

Crews were sent to the docks just before 7pm on Thursday after welding work on the support ship, which is undergoing a multi-million pound refit, caused a rag to catch fire.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus were sent into the engine room with a thermal imaging camera and an extinguisher, accompanied by a member of the ships crew.

They found the fire was already out but checked the affected area before returning to station.
