Firewalkers in Marazion raise thousands for children's charity
Brave firewalkers took on the challenge of a lifetime in Marazion and helped raise thousands for a children's charity.
Twenty-four volunteers completed the barefoot walk over hot coals in front of friends and family, raising £5,000 for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).
The weather stayed dry for the event and supporters were kept entertained by the Samba Celtica band.
It was the first time the event was held at Marazion beach and Sarah Stott, event fundraiser for CHSW, said it was a great success.

“We would like to say a massive thank you to our participants for raising such a fantastic amount, and to their family and friends for supporting them,” she said.
“It was an absolutely amazing evening at a fantastic location. What a great sense of achievement for all our firewalkers – they have achieved what seemed impossible – well done everyone.”
The final total is expected to rise as sponsorship donations are still being collected until November 27.
Funds raised from events such as the Firewalk will go towards the care and support that the team at Little Harbour offer the families who visit the hospice.
CHSW would like to thank St Aubyn Estates, staff at The Godolphin Arms, Samba Celtica, Devon & Cornwall 4 x 4 Response, St John Ambulance, as well as the volunteers from Penzance and Hayle friends groups.
