Chance to win £10k advertising campaign
A FANTASTIC opportunity to win free advertising worth up to £10,000 is attracting great interest from local businesses.
The Cornishman is taking part in the Local Business Accelerators (LBA) campaign – spearheaded by Deborah Meaden of Dragons' Den fame – that will see businesses in the area receive free advertising worth thousands of pounds.
More than 20 businesses have already applied for the competition and there is still time for others to take part with the deadline for entries tomorrow.
Damon Horrocks of Hayle Plants, one of last year's winners, said: "The help that we received from Rachael and Katie at The Cornishman has been fantastic; they designed a new logo for us and helped to plan a proper campaign so as to maximise the impact of the prize that we won.

"In addition, Sue Hook at Sapience HR in Hayle, who has acted as our business mentor, has been incredibly supportive, making us really think about what we are trying to achieve, and how to get there." This year's winner will get a three-month advertising campaign worth £10,000 supported by marketing advice and design help from the expert team at Cornwall and Devon Media – parent company of The Cornishman. The business in second place will get £7,500 of advertising with other prizes of £5,000 and £2,500, for a total of £25,000 given away.
The winning businesses will also gain support from the design team at CDM and a team of hand-picked local business mentors.
The LBA project is supported by the Government and the private sector's Business in You campaign and backed by Prime Minister David Cameron as well as the Governor of the Bank of England, Mervyn King.
Businesses aged between one and five years can enter LBA – the competition is designed to give a helping hand to young businesses that need to let the public know what a great job they are doing.
The most promising businesses will go forward to the national stage of the competition to win a year's mentoring from Deborah Meaden and a local advertising campaign devised by a top London agency. Businesses can enter the competition in their local newspaper via www.accelerateme.co.uk.
