Fisherman's Friends gather on Port Isaac quay as band member fights for life
A member of the Cornish singing group Fisherman's Friends was still fighting for his life yesterday after the freak accident that killed the band's tour manager.
Father-of-one Paul McMullen, 44, was crushed to death when a giant metal door fell on him as he unloaded equipment at a concert venue with singer Trevor Grills.

Mr Grills, 54, a tenor with the ten-strong sea shanty group from North Cornwall, suffered critical head injuries in the accident, which happened on Saturday morning as the group were getting ready to sing on the main stage at G Live in Guilford, in Surrey.
The remaining Fisherman's Friends gathered by the quayside in their home village of Port Isaac yesterday as their bandmate lay critically ill in London's St George's Hospital.

They paid a silent tribute to their two friends at one of the very spots where they first gathered to sing together.
Bass singer Jon Cleave said: "It's part and parcel of our Cornish community to pull together, one-and-all, in such times – and that is what we are doing.
"Trevor is fighting for his life in the presence of his family in hospital in Tooting. All our love and thoughts are with them."
In a statement, G Live director Alvin Hargreaves said the accident happened in the venue's loading bay area during the preparations for the concert.
"This is a terribly sad situation and our thoughts and condolences are with the family of the deceased at this incredibly difficult time," he added.
The band have enjoyed commercial success ever since being discovered singing on the quayside in Port Isaac – a tradition they have continued.
The Friends, who found top ten success in the UK charts in 2010, have also played the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury.
A father of three sons, Mr Grills, a builder and carpenter in his 50s, was taken to hospital in London, where he was last night being treated.
Mr McMullen, who lived in London, suffered serious leg injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
