Flag marks international day in Cornwall
The pale blue flag of the United Nations has been hoisted into the sky over County Hall in Cornwall.
The event marked United Nations Day which is celebrated internationally to inform people of the aims, goals and achievements of the organisation.
The day commemorates the formation of the United National Organisation on Oct 24 1945, when the UN Charter was ratified by all permanent members of the Security Council and more than half of the signatories.
To mark the anniversary, Cornwall Council welcomed representatives from the Cornwall Branch of the United Nations Association to County Hall.

Andrew Wallis, cabinet member for children and young people, said it was a day which should be celebrated.
“I am proud to stand by your Association, as we raise the UN Flag to mark this day,” he said.
“The United Nations Association exists to keep peace throughout the world, ease poverty and environmental destruction and encourage respect for each other’s rights and freedoms.”
