Land's End Airport will now re-open for flight operations on Monday morning (10 December), following a week of heavy rain.

Airport management had originally intended to re-open on Thursday but the waterlogged grass runway meant that this was not possible. In the meantime, flights have been transferred to Newquay Airport, causing inconvenience for passengers and delays to the transport of goods to and from the Isles of Scilly.

Commenting on the situation, the Operations Manager at Land's End, Stuart Brint, said: "Of everyone who was booked from Land's End, 95% of people have flown. We have been proactive in telling people about new flight times."

Airport users on the Isles of Scilly are calling for the runway at Land's End Airport to be tarmaced in order to reduce the probability of this kind of problem in future.
