Flooding in Truro as heavy rain hits Cornwall
Extreme weather conditions in Cornwall have seen shops flooded in Truro and roads affected in the surrounding area.
One business owner had to get on her hands and knees to clear out a road drain in an attempt to stop her shop from flooding.
New Bridge Street in the centre of Truro was badly affected by the torrential rain.
Kelly Barritt, owner of the Baby Skan Studio, said: “It happened so quickly. One minute it was pavement height and then it was coming in the front door.

“We managed to get out there and unblock the drain ourselves. There were just loads and loads of leaves.”
Mrs Barritt said she had called Cornwall Council for help with the flooding but had not received a response.
Mrs Barritt said they had experienced the same problem last year.
As well as coming through the front door, the water threatened to come in to the back as well via an alley at the side of the shop.
The studio will be closed for the rest of the day but Mrs Barritt hopes to re-open tomorrow.
