Musicians, family and friends travelled from as far as Australia to celebrate the marriage of Westcountry folk star Seth Lakeman to his Cornish fiancée Hannah Edwards.

The wedding took place at Withiel, near Wadebridge in North Cornwall, under clear blue skies.

Fiddle player Steve Potter played the couple down the aisle with a traditional tune on the violin.

During the church service, Hannah's 90-year-old grandfather, Granfer Foster – who is a Cornish bard – read a blessing in Cornish.

Seth's 90-year-old grandad, Reverend Ronald Gibbins – a retired Methodist minister – also delivered an address entitled "Hopes for Marriage".

And Seth's sister-in-law, the award-winning Irish singer Cara Dillon, sang She Moved Through The Fair as the couple signed the register in Withiel's St Clement's Church.

Seth, a 35-year-old Mercury Music Award nominee, was brought up in Buckland Monachorum and has insisted on basing himself in West Devon despite topping charts and gaining an international following for his music.

Hannah, 32, was born in Tavistock and currently works as a nurse in a neurological ward at Derriford Hospital.

"The wedding was like a mini music festival," said Seth's father, former Daily Mirror journalist Geoff Lakeman.

"Even the wedding invitations were printed like backstage passes and marked AAA ('Access All Areas').

"Hannah's family had put up a superb marquee at their home by the River Camel, which accommodated 200 guests for a sit-down meal and there was a crazy party afterwards that went on through the Sunday as well."

Seth's long-time musical mates, Mad Dog Mcrea, played during the evening of the wedding day, which took place on Saturday, May 26.

Geoff added: "We didn't have to book any other musicians for the entertainment, there were so many there.

"Seth's brothers, Sean and Sam – who are also acclaimed musicians and producers – performed, along with Steve Knightley from Show of Hands, percussionist Cormac Byrne and Scottish fiddler Patsy Reid, who performed on one of the music barges on the Thames for the Queen's Royal Jubilee pageant.

The couple are now on a camper van honeymoon in Italy with their springer spaniel Bernie.

Immediately after returning from honeymoon, Seth begins a tour of about 16 dates, taking in summer music festivals across Europe and the UK. Locally, people will get to see him at Plymouth's Royal Citadel, when he performs four dates as part of Music of The Night. He will also perform at an end-of-tour show at Plymouth's Theatre Royal.
