September fortnight of festival events marks Saltash's 'green transition'
A Cornish town is gearing up for a series of events to mark a major worldwide environmental initiative.
Live music, a film festival, tree planting and a fashion show are just some of the highlights of Transition Fortnight, which takes place in Saltash from Saturday, September 11 until Sunday, September 26.

The fortnight-long festival follows Saltash's acceptance earlier this year as a transition town. The transition network raises awareness about climate change through a series of practical initiatives.
Since then, Saltash in Transition has been hard at work planning activities.
Adam Killeya, chairman of Saltash in Transition, said: "Making Saltash Greener is really important. We want to raise awareness of how simple changes can make a difference to our environment and help us all become more environmentally friendly.
"This is the perfect opportunity for Saltash to show how easy it is to get on board with the transition movement's aims – by growing our own fruit and veg, walking and cycling instead of driving, and reusing and recycling wherever possible.
"There will be plenty going on in Saltash this September to mark Making Saltash Greener.
"Best of all, people of all ages can get involved."
A launch event will be held in Saltash town centre at 11am on September 11 and continue with a pedal parade the same afternoon from noon when a parade of bikes will journey through the town.
Local churches will also be supporting transition.
The following day, several churches in Saltash will be holding green-themed services.
Later that day, a Freeboot – similar to a car boot sale – will take place in Alexandra Square. Customers will get a Saltash Shilling for each item they bring, which they can exchange for anything else. They will also get a free shilling for just turning up.

“And God said, 'Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark seasons and days and years, and let them be lights in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth. Well my recycling was collected 3 hours early today; every great journey starts with a single step”
