Four students from Fowey Community College have decided to incorporate a love of cycling into their Citizenship GCSE and raise money for a good cause while doing it.

Jack Scott and Tom Reed, 13, along with Josh Sandy and Jordan Burton, 14, will be pedalling for 50 miles to raise funds for CLIC Sargent.

Jack said: "We think it will take three to four days and Josh has contacted campsites for free stays, we want people to know that we are going to put a lot of effort into this to generate a lot of money for CLIC."

Stephanie Cherington-Rimmell, Cornwall Fundraising Manager for CLIC Sargent, added: "This is a big challenge for the team, but I am sure they will enjoy every second of it!

We are so grateful for the support of each of the cyclists and the Fowey Community College."

CLIC Sargent provides clinical, practical, emotional and financial help to children and young people with cancer and their families.

"We provide support where and when the families need it most but would not be able to do this without the support of our local community," added Mrs Cherington-Rimmell.

Last year, CLIC Sargent, provided support for 76 families in Cornwall and the money raised by the Fowey students will help allow them to continue that support.

John Perry, headteacher at Fowey Community College, said: "I am delighted that the boys are supporting CLIC Sargent in such a way.

"We have supported the charity for some time now and I am pleased that the boys are taking such an active approach to raising funds for such a serious cause."
