Fowey and Mevagissey hit again by floods
LESS THAN 24 hours after the coastal towns of Mevagissey and Fowey were hit by floodwater they were again picking up the sandbags and bailing out.
Last night residents braced themselves for another wave of flooding, which followed yesterday morning's deluge.
The wild and wet weather was created by a dramatic cocktail of the highest tide of the year, atmospheric pressure, heavy swell and rainfall.
Eleven fire fighters from Mevagissey were scrambled to the fishing port's main square at around 7.30pm.

Fire fighters helped with the clean-up after some businesses became victims of the raging waters once more.
They also helped prevent floodwater from sweeping through properties and directed traffic through the town until police arrived at the scene.
It was the second time in around 24 hours that homes and businesses had been flooded.
However, for some they took the dramatic event in their stride.
One youngster decided to go with the flow at Middle Wharf, Mevagissey.
Fowey was also cleaning up on Thursday morning after water levels rose from the River Fowey and swept into the Town Quay on Wednesday evening. Premises on Fore Street and Webb Street were also affected by the rising water.
On Thursday morning the risk of flooding was reduced. Warnings by the Environment Agency are no longer in force.
