French theme for this weekend's Penryn Fair Day
THERE will be a French feel to this weekend's Penryn Town Fair to celebrate the 40th anniversary of its twinning with Audierne.
On Saturday at 12.30pm a commemoration ceremony on Quay Hill will honour those who took part in the Prayer Book Rebellion of 1549.
A parade will then go from the Memorial Gardens to the Methodist Chapel where James Dundon, of Pirate FM, will officially open the event at 1pm.
Throughout the town centre will be stalls, rides, displays of classic cars, art and craft and tapestry workshops and performances by Swamp Circus.
Penryn Camera Club will have an exhibition in the Town Hall, Zumba dancers and Victoria's Dance Academy will give displays, and there is a chance to meet a range of wildlife with Mark's Ark.
Falmouth's Soul Sensations, St Keverne Youth Band and the Jazz Strolling Band will be entertaining the crowds.
In the Temperance Hall there will be a French-style café and stallholders are encouraged to dress up on the theme.
