Fripping good gigs
LEGENDARY King Crimson founder Robert Fripp (guitar), joins Theo Travis (alto flute and soprano sax) to perform live at All Saints Church, Falmouth, on Friday, October 29, and St Peter's Church, Newlyn, on Saturday, October 30, both at 7.30pm.
Following on from their successful CDs – Thread (2008) and Live at Coventry Cathedral (2010) – Travis and Fripp have developed a duo project especially conceived for resonant acoustic spaces.
Theo Travis, left, and Robert Fripp will play two concerts for the Shallal charity next week.
Crossing the divide between ambient electronica and experimental improvisation, they create an ethereal world of clusters, atmospheres and melodic beauty.
"Like two colourists sharing the canvas, they painstakingly blend their respective approaches into a result that is beautiful, delicate, sometimes wistful and occasionally forbidding," Jazzwise.
