Police launch appeal after cyclist's death
THE FUNERAL of a popular North Cornwall man will take place today.
John Phillips was killed nearly three weeks ago when his bicycle was involved in a collision with a Land Rover near St Mabyn.
A former Wadebridge care home manager, Mr Phillips played an active role in the local community and was the chairman of governors at Camelford Primary School as well as chairman of Camelford Carnival.
He died at the scene of the incident on an unclassified road between St Mabyn and Longstone, on November 11.

Police have this week launched an appeal to trace the driver of a gold-coloured Peugeot – possibly a 207 or 208 – who may have information about the fatal crash.
A police spokesman said: "The driver is urged to come forward to the police on 101, quoting reference 0335 of November 11 as it is believed that he/she may have information relevant to the inquiry."
The Land Rover was towing a trailer at the time of the incident and was travelling towards Longstone.
Mr Phillips was travelling in the opposite direction with two other cyclists.
The Cornish Guardian reported last week how his family paid tribute to his community efforts.
In a statement, they said: "John was a devoted husband and father, and a beloved son to May Phillips.
"He will be sadly missed by his family, friends and all the committees and organisations that he devoted his time to. We are very proud of all John achieved in such a short time. Thank you for all the many cards, flowers, support and love that the family have received since the tragic event."
His funeral will take place today at Lanteglos Parish Church, near Camelford, at 2pm, followed by a private cremation.
Donations in lieu of flowers are invited for Padstow Lifeboat, The Alzheimer's Society and Macmillan Cancer Support. The family say items of red clothing may be worn at the funeral.
