Tate St Ives in £5m scheme to get young into arts
A £5 million initiative involving Tate St Ives and other organisations has been announced to get young people involved in the arts. The nationwide under-25s project, Circuit, sparked by last year's riots in London, will be funded by the grant-making Paul Hamlyn Foundation. Tate director Sir Nicholas Serota said the 2011 summer riots were a "catalyst" for the project, which will launch next year, involving galleries around Britain. Other organisations involved include Tate Modern, Tate Britain and Tate Liverpool and, firstsite in Colchester.
