HUNDREDS of gaming fans queued outside a St Austell store at midnight for the launch of a new game this week.

Call of Duty: Black Ops II – a war game for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles – was launched at midnight on Monday at various stores across the country. Almost 200 gamers turned out at St Austell's Game to pick up some freebies, buy their copy of the game, and to play it on one of White River Cinema screens in a competition to win a game console.

"It was about 3am before I went to sleep and the next thing I knew the alarm was going off to wake me up for work. Staff have been living on caffeine," said Game store manager Sam Healy.

"It was lots of hard work but worth it. Everyone had a fantastic time."
