A stroll through the lush foliage of a hidden Cornish paradise has inspired many an artist.

But now the beauty, ambiance and history of one verdant valley which prompted a composer to put pen to paper is available for everyone to share.

Trebah Gardens, at Mawnan Smith near Falmouth, has teamed up with composer Kim Zip to create an unusual exhibition of sound.

During January and February, the magnificent gardens will be hosting what they call a private view of Kim's work which will be available on an MP3 player or download.

It will mean visitors can plug in and wander around the gardens to experience the music in each section which inspired it.

Kim, who works with the Fish Factory arts community at Falmouth Wharves, conceived the Trebah Suite last summer.

"Trebah is a powerful place, and the atmosphere is so intense that to be honest the suite scored itself," she said.

"None of my musical impressions could ever be as beautiful as nature, but I hope the Trebah Suite will serve to remind everyone who knows and loves the garden of the wonderful experience of visiting."

Nigel Burnett, director at Trebah, which celebrates its 175th birthday this year, said it was a delightful method of bringing music into the garden, but without spoiling its tranquility.

"This is a wonderful way for members and regular visitors to enjoy the garden with a bit of twist," he said.

Entry price is reduced during winter and the exhibition is free.
