Gladding calls it a day after long career
DIVING: Sheffield's Monique Gladding, who was controversially selected ahead of Plymouth's Tonia Couch for the ten metres platform individual event at this year's Olympic Games, has retired. The 31-year-old defied the odds to appear in London after she almost lost her life following an accident at an event in Russia in February 2011. She smacked her head against the platform and fell unconscious into the water, before she had to be pulled to safety from the bottom of the pool.
