Glasgow rocked by inspired Lasker
UCP Marjon Plymouth Raiders kept up the pressure on the top three sides in the BBL Championship as they made the long trip north of the border and came away with an impressive 97-69 victory over Glasgow Rocks at the Emirates Arena yesterday evening.
Both sides traded baskets in the early part of the contest, but the visitors enjoyed a slender four-point advantage at 18-14 before five points from Donald Robinson turned that around to give the Rocks a 19-18 lead.
The visitors were not to be outdone, however, as they ended the period the stronger side and bagged the final five points to lead 23-19 at the end of the opening stanza.
In the second quarter, a four-point-play from Drew Lasker to start the period gave the Raiders a 27-19- lead.

However, the Rocks were not going to give up and let the Raiders run all over them as they stepped up their intensity at both ends of the floor and capped an impressive period of play with a Jon Bunyan three-pointer to tie the score at 33-33 with 4:18 remaining in the half.
The score remained close for the remainder of the quarter, but it was the Raiders who held on to the advantage as the sides headed into the locker room with the visitors leading 44-41 at the half.
In the second half, the Raiders exploded out of the blocks as a Matt Schneck basket sparked a 14-2 start to the third quarter to break the game open and take the score out to 43-58 midway through the period.
The Rocks tried desperately to stem the tide, but were unable to do as the Raiders continued to extend their lead and enjoyed their biggest lead of the quarter at 49-70 with under a minute left.
The Raiders held on to their lead and headed into the final stanza leading 53-72.
In the final quarter, the Rocks tried desperately to get themselves back into the contest, but they were unable to get close as the Raiders showed their strength.
The Devon side spent the majority of the quarter extending their advantage and secured their biggest lead of the game at 29 points with the score at 95-66 with less than a minute remaining.
Lasker led all scorers in the contest with 28 points for the Raiders in their victory, while Robinson was the main man for the Rocks as he netted 17 points for the home side in the defeat.
