Golden girls: Young artists set for bright future
BRIGHT young things from Newquay Treviglas Community College have gained top prizes at a regional art competition.
Year 13 students Kiah Seifert-Craggs and Chloe White took top honours in the photography category of the Eden Project's Bright Young Things Competition – a contest designed to showcase the talent of budding photographers, writers, artists, dancers, musicians and film-makers from all around the South West.

The two Treviglas photographers were each given special distinction awards as well as exhibition space for their work at Eden's Core Gallery.
In honour of the Olympic Games in London, the theme for the competition was "gold".
For her submission, Chloe took inspiration from her passion for music with a series of photographs capturing shimmering golden glitter bouncing off a booming speaker.
As for Kiah, her inspiration came from the breakfast table. Seeing her sister smear golden honey on a piece of toast, she decided to create a series of photographs which chronicled the journey of honey from bee to honeycomb.
Both students thrilled to have their work recognised and showcased to the public.
"It was really exciting to win," said Chloe. "It's always nice to get your work out there and have people responding positively to it."
"I was quite surprised but very pleased when I learned my photographs were chosen," said Kiah. "I suppose something like this doesn't look too bad on a university application either," she added.
Treviglas art teacher Clare Mildenhall said: "The exhibition of their work was really well attended and their work is still on view to the public.
"The pictures from both of them were just stunning and this recognition is a testament to their hard work and creativity."
