Goodwill to all as the holidays approach
BY NOW most people are in the full flow of Christmas; rushing around trying to buy the must-have gift for a loved one.
The preparations for the day are coming together nicely, or not (it can get so political, ha, ha).

There's all the wonderful things to eat and drink, the smells, the sounds of Christmas – good times.

But there are some things I do not like. The 'me' mentality it can often bring. The selfishness that it can cause when a child, or an adult, does not get the present they wanted.
When a gift is not appreciated, no matter what it is, the thoughtlessness that people can show.
The negative feelings on a parent when financially they cannot afford to buy the present their child wants, which sadly has been pushed at them through the media and business.
You might be thinking, 'oh here he goes, a Christian talking about the real meaning of Christmas' – that being the wonderful gift of Christ the saviour.
But I am not going to, despite how much this is potentially at risk in this day and age and, by the way, is an amazing gift to us.
What I want to bring to your attention is this notion of goodwill to all men. Let's take gender out of this, let's say just goodwill to all.
This notion is not dependent on what race, religion, society or circumstances you find yourself in or are a part of.
Think about it: that little act of kindness, that smile or even just a plain hello to someone could make a huge difference to their life. When you genuinely do something out of the ordinary for your neighbour, that person you see on a regular basis or possibly even a stranger (be safe), it has the power to potentially change lives.
If we all thought this way at this time of year – even though this should be the norm – Christmas would certainly be an amazing time of year.
So I challenge you to, today, do something nice for someone else, say hello or just smile and see what effect it might have.
