Gorse fire at Rosenannon Downs - arson suspected

At around 4 o'clock on Saturday morning two Fire Service crews were called out to a fire reported at Rosenannon Downs, near St Columb.

On arrival, the crews from St Columb and Wadebridge found two 300m fronts of gorse that were alight. Crews used beaters to extinguish the fires.

Arson is suspected and the police have been informed.

Roseannon Downs is a 274 acre site of heath, mire and woodland. It is home to a wide range of flora and fauna and is a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).
