Upon his return from Shackleton's ill-fated Endurance Expedition, Dr Leonard Hussey toured Britain giving a lecture about his incredible experiences.

On February 6, at the Maritime Museum in Falmouth, Geoff Selley will recreate this lecture from Dr Hussey's original notes, as if he were Dr Hussey himself.  The talk is accompanied by slides reproduced from the original 'magic-lantern' slides of the expedition taken by Frank Hurley, the expedition photographer. Geoff says: "The lecture goes back in an unbroken line nearly eighty years and, with the eerie glow of the magic lantern slide show, the listener will be transported back to the heroic age of Antarctic Exploration." The talk, entitled The Greatest Survival Story Ever Told, is part of a programme combining a lecture and lunch, which explores different historical and nautical themes.  The lecture and set lunch is from 12.30pm at the National Maritime Museum Cornwall, on Monday February 6 and costs £14.50.  To book your place please call 01326 214546.
