Gylly Beach Café voted the most environmentally friendly eatery in the UK
SIX years of hard work by staff has been rewarded at Gylly Beach Café after the seaside eatery was voted the most environmentally friendly restaurant in the whole of the UK.
The beach diner was presented with the GoldStar Award in the café/restaurant category at the Green Tourism Conference.
Gylly Beach Café won the Gold Award in the same category three years ago.
“Since then we have maintained our gold award and now have been given a Goldstar award,” said manager Mark Agnew, who added that he was “amazed” to receive the award.

“We were shortlisted with two other restaurants, one in Wales and one in Scotland.
“The two other restaurants we were up against were really fantastic and it's great to have won.
“The award really symbolises six years of hard work and sustained effort in making Gylly Beach Café a nationally recognised 'green' café.
“I'd like to say a massive thank you to all the staff and owners at Gylly Beach Café for all their help in making the award possible.
“The fact that we have won this award out of everyone in the country is amazing for Cornwall.
Over 2,400 green tourism companies entered the awards across 13 categories.
Now in their third year the annual awards honour businesses which promote sustainability by implementing cost-saving practices that help the environment, improve customer services and benefit the bottom line.
The awards are hosted by Green Tourism, the sustainable tourism accreditation programme.
