Halloween treat leaves Paignton Zoo gorilla Kumbuka unmoved
It was all tricks and no treats for this huge silverback gorilla who seemed less than impressed with his Halloween present of carved pumpkins.
Keepers at Paignton Zoo in Devon thought they would get Kumbuka into the Halloween spirit by leaving him a stack of carved pumpkins in his enclosure when he emerged from his peaceful night's slumber.
But after swiftly dismantling the pumpkin stack, the 28-stone gorilla decided to show his disapproval of the occasion by hurling the seasonal gems at photographer Richard Austin.
Luckily for Richard, Kumbuka wasn't able to clear the protective moat with any of his throws, leaving the freshly-carved pumpkins bobbing up and down in the water.

The 15-year-old silverback weighs in at a hulking 180kg – which equals 400lb, or 28 stone.
Kumbuka was born on November 15, 1997, and came to Paignton Zoo from La Boissiere Zoo in France.
His keepers at the south Devon zoo describe him as a typical teenager. They say he can be calm or lively, he likes some people more than others (with the exception of photographers) and he has a definite eye for the ladies.
And that is fortunate, as Kumbuka is expected to leave his English Riviera home for London Zoo within a few months, where he will be part of a new breeding group.
